Universities play a strong role in the shaping of ideas and influencing of policy. This session explored ways in which they can best use their inherent transformative potential.
Topics discussed included the need to resist undue corporate influence in universities; to improve community engagement; to make room for grief and other emotions in the classroom; to focus on long-term impacts; to take a cross-departmental approach, avoiding silos; and to address epistemic injustice (the privileging of certain types of knowledge over others).
