Sharae Deckard

Dr. Sharae Deckard is Associate Professor in World Literature at UCD. Her research interests intersect environmental criticism, energy humanities and world-ecology approaches to literature, ecology, and culture. Sharae is the Director of the UCD Environmental Humanities research strand, and a member of the “Environmental Humanities” Steering Group for the Irish Humanities Alliance. She is currently editing a Routledge Companion to Literature and Environment, and she is also on the Editorial Board for Liverpool Studies in Literature and the Environment.  Her most recent book, Tracking Capital: World-Systems, World-Ecology, World-Culture, co-authored with Michael Niblett and Stephen Shapiro, was published by SUNY Press in March 2024. Sharae has edited six special issues of journals, including: “Food, Energy, Climate: Irish Culture and World-Ecology,” co-edited with Lucy Collins, Irish University Review 49.1 (2019); and “Ireland in the World-System,” co-edited with Aidan Beatty and Maurice Coakley, Journal of World-Systems Research 22.1 (March 2016). With Treasa De Loughry, she is Co-I of the ‘Cultural Imaginaries of Just Transition’ project at UCD.
