Dr Darren Clarke is an Assistant Professor in the School of History and Geography at DCU. His research focuses on climate adaptation, environmental policy and governance, health and wellbeing and environmental psychology.
Prior to joining DCU, he worked in the public sector as a researcher in local government. Between 2021-2022 he was commissioned by the local government sector to identify practical climate action KPIs for the sector. His recommendations now inform Climate Action Plan Key Performance Indicators of local authorities nationally and overall sectoral reporting to government. In 2020, he co-led the delivery of the first baseline assessment of the local government sector’s climate actions in Ireland.
